National Training School (NTS) 2007-2008
The National Training School (NTS) 2007-2008 opened last November 2007 at the Helena Z Benitez NPTC in Tagaytay City. Courses offered were Senior Troop Leaders Gathering, which was held from November 22-24 and Star Troop Leaders Gathering, which ran from November 28-30. Veteran GSP trainers were tapped for this offering of the NTS.
For the first course, the team was composed of Mrs. Rosalina R. Boquiren (Pangasinan Council), Mrs. Marietta M. Villanueva (Makati Council) and Mrs. Ma. Jesusa S. Sampang (Rizal Council). The second course was handled by Ms. Gloria B. Echaluce (former National Executive Director/Diploma’d Trainer), Mrs. Beatriz N. Hualde (Davao Council) and Mrs. Marietta M. Villanueva.
Mrs. Ma. Dolores T. Santiago, GSP National Executive Director graced the Opening Ceremony of the first course to give the welcome message. The Vice Chairman of Program Committee, Ms. R Lauaan V. Tamesis was the one who welcomed the participants of the second course. Atty. Susan N. Delos Reyes, Chairman of the Training Committee attended the Closing Ceremony of the Star Troop Leaders Gathering to give the thoughts to bring home.

Workshop for Candidates for Trainers Diploma
Fifteen credentialed trainers from the six regions of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines attended the Workshop for Candidates for Trainers Diploma, held at the Helena Z Benitez National Program & Training Center, Tagaytay City on October 11-13, 2007. Output of the workshop were one and two-day courses designed for new and experienced troop leaders. The participants also created activities that would carry out the objectives of the different modules.
Before the workshop proper session on the following topics were conducted: What is Active Training, Designing Active Trainings, Developing Active Training Objectives and Adult Learning Styles.
Permission for teacher-troop leaders to be trained during school days is now getting more and more difficult. One way to get them to the training room is to offer one or two-day courses which could be conducted on weekends, hence, the workshop. It also served another purpose, that of fulfilling the written paper requirement for trainers diploma.
Breakdown of participants per region is as follows: Western Mindanao, two (2); Eastern Mindanao, one (1); Visayas, two (2); three (3) from Southern Luzon; three (3) from Central Luzon and four (4) from Northern Luzon.
